Wind Ensembles

Wind Ensemble I (Entry-Level and recommended for Freshmen)
Year-Long Course • Grades 9-10-11-12
Fulfills HS Visual/Perf. Arts or General Elective

This course is open to all interested students and highly recommended for all incoming freshmen who play a wind or percussion instrument. In this course, students will learn basic theory/musicianship skills, 12 major/minor scales, and basic ensemble techniques. This ensemble studies and performs intermediate level high school band literature. Occasional after-school performances are mandatory.  Students who have had at least 1-2 years of band at the Middle School level are approved to take this course without an audition.

If you take Marching Band P.E., you will be enrolled in Wind Ensemble I or II (pending audition).

Wind Ensemble II (Intermediate Level)
Prerequisite: Audition
Year-Long Course • Grades 9-10-11-12
Fulfills HS Visual/Perf. Arts or General Elective

This course is open to select wind and percussion students by audition. The group studies and performs intermediate through advanced high school band literature. Students are tested on performance repertoire and all Major/Minor scales. Occasional after-school performances are mandatory.

If you take Marching Band P.E., you will be enrolled in Wind Ensemble I or II (pending audition).

Wind Ensemble Honors (Advanced)
Prerequisite: Audition
Year-Long Course • Grades 11-12
Fulfills HS Visual/Perf. Arts or General Elective

This course is open to select wind and percussion students by audition. The group performs a wide variety of intermediate to advanced repertoire and moves at a very fast pace. All Major/Minor scales are tested along with performance repertoire. Occasional after-school and weekend performances are mandatory. This class offers students a 5-point A grade.
