Olivia Gerns, Wind Ensemble Instructional Specialist
Ms. Gerns is excited to start her second year at Agoura High School! Olivia is a recent graduate of Chapman University Cum Laude, with a double major in Music Performance and Music Education, emphasizing in the oboe. At Chapman, she was the winner of The Chapman Orchestra Instrumental Concerto Competition in 2016, and received the Woodwind and Brass Chamber Music Award in 2018. She was also a Music Theory and Aural Skills Tutor for 3 consecutive years in the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music.
As an accomplished singer/songwriter, dancer, and musician, Ms. Gerns loves being able to share her artistic values and attributes with her students. She continues to work toward a versatile career in the Los Angeles area. Olivia has written and composed songs for dance choreography products to be sold to dance studios across the nation, and continues to do so for Music Works Unlimited. In Summer of 2018, she served as the Principal Oboist of the International Lyric Academy Orchestra in Italy for 4 weeks.
While completing her degrees, Olivia Gerns has previously assistant directed the Women’s Choir at Orange High School. She also has been cultivating her own private students, teaching both Oboe and Piano. She is happy to be able to be an educator in multiple settings within the community.”
